50 YEARS AGO:

The Monroe County Commission approved a resolution for setting up the garbage collection districts. They were Stock Island to Seven Mile Bridge, Pigeon Key to Greyhound Key, Craig Key to Snake Creek and Snake Creek to the Dade County Line.

Ten women of the Canadian Navy were students at the Fleet Sonar School. They resided at the Blue Marlin Motel.
