


Dorothy DUNN Morrison
Dorothy "Dottie" Dunn Morrison passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in Key West. Dorothy was born in Meredosia, Ill., on Aug. 26, 1911, to Arthur and Minnie Williams Dunn, and was raised in Springfield, Ill.
Dorothy retired from the legislative branch of the federal government after spending a long and rewarding career in Washington, D.C., as ad-ministrative assistant to California Rep. Chet Holifield.
She married Dr. Joseph P.E. Morrison, an internationally renowned malacologist at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., who preceded her in death.
They had three children: Mary Callaway of Baton Rouge, La.; Lilian Phillips and her husband, Richard, of Huntsville, Ala.; and Michael P.E. Morrison and his wife, Elizabeth, of Fairview, Pa.
Dorothy and her husband moved to Key West in 1980, and she considered herself a freshwater Conch. She is survived and deeply loved by her three children, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was an honorary lifetime member of the Congressional Secretaries Club and was a past president of the organization.
A memorial service will be held in Meredosia, Ill., for the family at the family burial ground. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the Florida Keys.
Mildred W. Stickney
Mildred Whitley Stickney passed away peacefully in her home in Key West on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008. She was born in New York City, N.Y., on Dec. 21, 1920, the daughter of George Haynes and Winifred (Gale) Whitley. The family moved to Key West when she was 16 years of age.
Mildred graduated from the Key West High School class of 1940. She began her career as secretary to the principal of Key West High School and later to the Superintendant of Public Instruction. She left employment to raise a family and returned 10 years later. At that time, she was assigned to the Finance Department of the Monroe County School System. She retired as Assistant Finance Officer in 1974.
Mildred was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church. She served the church as clerk, treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She was also the President of the Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed making crafts and crochet items for the church bazaars.
Mildred is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clyde P. Stickney; daughters, Brenda Hargrave (Jerry) of Elmore, Ala., and Judy Dees (Robert) of Live Oak, Fla., and son, Clyde Stickney Jr. (Kathy) of Ormond Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Cindy Scott (Duane) of Millbrook, Ala., Dawn Hesse (Chris) of St. Louis, Mo., Holly Green (Jeremy) of Madison, Ala., Wendy Tillis (James) of Atlanta, Ga., and R. Braxton Dees (Stacie) of Atlanta, Ga.; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Loretta (Whitley) MacInnes.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Ron Paige officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Key West City Cemetery.
