About 26,000 Keys Energy customers lost power for four minutes Sunday night after lightning struck the transmission line near Mile Marker 16.2 near the Sugarloaf Key Fire Department, the utility said Monday.
The lightning struck at 10:30 p.m. Sunday and power was restored by 10:34 p.m., said the utility's spokesman Julio Torrado.
Stormy weather caused several smaller power outages throughout the utility's service area overnight Sunday, affecting about 150 customers. All were weather-related and involved blown fuses and transformers. Crews worked until 7 a.m. Monday to restore power to everyone.
