The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has ordered the Key West Yacht Club, 2315 N. Roosevelt Blvd., to stop "all unauthorized mangrove trimming" until it inspects the site, a state spokesman said Tuesday.
"Staff is scheduling the inspection for later this week," said Terry Cerullo, of DEP, in an email response to questions.
The city owns the property and leases it to the Yacht Club. City code enforcement sent a complaint to DEP about illegal mangrove cutting. The club's general manager Paul Gallagher said Tuesday he is waiting until the DEP report comes out before commenting.
