A tourist died Wednesday while snorkeling offshore, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Charles Leidigh, 71, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., was on a snorkeling trip on board the Sundiver III, reports state.
The captain reported they were at Dry Rocks Reef when he noticed a snorkeler not moving, face down in the water just before 4 p.m. The first mate pulled Leidigh onto the boat and began performing CPR. All other snorkelers were recalled to the boat, which then returned to shore.
The boat was met ashore by paramedics who pronounced him dead. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of his death.
