The Supervisor of Registration, William "Billy" Freeman, reported that 18,495 voted in the Sept. 8 primary to replace Berine C. Papy, who died.

Friends of the late Berine C. Papy were painting benches in the city that bore the inscription "Compliments of Berine C. Papy."
