Iguanas, invasive species are protected by law

Iguanas and other invasive pet species are protected by anticruelty laws. Here is the Florida State Regulation that defines animal abuse as a felony.

Florida Statutes s.828.12 provides:

A person who intentionally commits an act to any animal which results in the cruel death, or excessive or repeated infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering, or causes...
