50 YEARS AGO:

A runaway car barreled thought the Eaton and Elizabeth streets intersection collided with another, smashed up three parked cars, a fence and a front porch and injured five people before stopping.

The sheriff's department was pushing a full scale manhunt for two bandits who held up the desk clerk at the Sugarloaf Lodge.
