State releases full nursing home inspection report

The Florida Agency on Health Care Administration on Thursday released its complete 200-page inspection report for the Key West Convalescent Center.

The state alleges patient abuse, as well as shoddy paperwork. The report indicates poor management, record-keeping and follow-through regarding patient care.

The inspection findings, which the nursing home plans to appeal, prompted Medicare and Medicaid to pull its federal funding, effective Dec. 12, which could force the center to close.
