Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at the George Allen public housing apartment complex this afternoon.
It appears no one was injured, but an upstairs room was burned.
The 115-unit complex is at U.S. 1 and Vivian Lane.
At about 60 years old, it is one of the oldest and most structurally unsound public housing projects in Key West, Monroe County Housing Authority Executive Director Manuel Castillo said in 2005 after Hurricane Wilma.
