Monroe County sheriff's deputies found the body of a 49-year-old Plantation Key woman under a floating dock Wednesday after her daughter called 911 to report her missing.
Homicide detectives are investigating how Rosemary Miller of 1112 Venetian Blvd. died, but were not ready to say Wednesday whether someone killed her.
"It is not one of those open and closed cases," said Capt. Don Fanelli, supervisor of the Sheriff's Office Islamorada division. "There is nothing conclusive at this time to go either way."
An autopsy has been conducted, but doctors are awaiting toxicology reports, said Becky Herrin, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.
Miller's 24-year-old daughter drove from Fort Lauderdale to see her mother after several calls over the previous days went unanswered, according to reports.
A neighbor who maintains Miller's yard and lets his dog play in the area also helped the daughter search for Miller, reports say.
After the daughter and neighbor combed the house and yard, they called 911, reports say.
Arriving marine patrol deputies then found Miller's body floating in the canal behind her home, after seeing legs protruding from the water, reports say. There were some minor injuries visible to the body.
Much information on the sheriff's report that was made public was redacted as the investigation remains ongoing.
Fanelli said there was evidence in the house useful to the investigation, but he declined to comment as to what.
