Team in Training season soon
The Key West chapter of Team in Training is holding a series of informational meetings for those interested in learning about training to run or walk a marathon or half-marathon this winter to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Anyone may attend, and all fitness levels are welcome.
Meetings will be held in Key West at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at We Be Fit, 1277 First St.; and at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 at the DoubleTree Grand Key Resort. The meeting at the DoubleTree will be followed by a season kickoff party.

Help with reef restoration
Divers can work alongside marine scientists to restore coral in a series of dives set for Aug. 11 to 13, Oct. 19 to 22, and Nov. 1 to 3 with Amoray Dive Resort.
The events are scheduled to correspond with the annual coral spawn. Classes will precede the dives.
"This is something the average person can get their hands on and do," said Ken Nedimyer, head of the Coral Restoration Foundation, who will lead the classes and dives.

Free disaster training
The American Red Cross is recruiting volunteers for the local Disaster Action Team (DAT) or the National Red Cross Disaster Response system. DAT responds to all local house fires and helps those affected by them.
Free training will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the nonprofit's office, 5450 MacDonald Ave., Suite 11.
Classes include: Fulfilling Our Mission, Mass Care, and Fundamentals of Local Disaster Action Teams.
The entire series is not required, and several classes are offered online or as self-study. Advance registration is required; call 305-296-4033.
