20 YEARS AGO

The Monroe County chapter of SCORE announced that it had expanded its service with three new counselors.

The single-family wood frame house at 613 William St. sold for a reported $175,000.

Frank Courtney was elected chairman of the Lower Keys Health System. The other officers were Frank Butler, vice chairman; David Keaser, treasurer; and Dr. Robin Lockwood, secretary.

50 YEARS AGO

State Attorney J. Lancelot Lester was the speaker at the dedication of the formal opening of the Community Center at Mallory Square.

The Civil Defense Director for Monroe County announced a survival course for public employees working in Monroe County.

Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Aquilino Lopez Jr. was the guest speaker at the Marathon Rotary Club meeting, held at the Tarpon Lodge.

100 YEARS AGO

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department and the Key West police force were called out because of laborer troubles caused by the Italian workers installing the gas main. The workers were imported from Philadelphia because no local laborers could be found.
