MONROE COUNTY
Fingerprinting goes digital
State and federal agencies that process fingerprints now require they be taken digitally.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office now collects the total charge, from $35 to $50, instead of people paying the sheriff and the requesting agency separately.
Call in advance for the processing fee -- only cash is accepted, and preferably exact change -- and necessary paperwork to bring with you.
Fingerprinting is done at the Stock Island jail (305-293-7348), Marathon substation (305-289-2430) and Roth Building on Plantation Key (305-853-3211) from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Fingerprinting no longer is done at the Cudjoe Key substation or Murray Nelson building in Key Largo.
