Some of the Monroe County firehouses were firetraps, according to engineers who inspected the 10 stations from Stock Island to Key Largo.

County law enforcement officers rounded up nine suspected drug dealers on Stock Island.

A vacation for four Virginia men ended abruptly when the free-spending host was arrested for using a stolen credit card. The four had gotten drunk and decided to take a road trip to Florida. The one man had said he would pay.
