Stuart Chase Barber
Stuart Chase Barber, 28, passed from this life on Sunday, July 1, 2012. He is survived by the loves of his life, wife, Berenice, and 3-year-old son, Tristan, and is the son of Stuart Barber and Luana Meyer (Dale), and the grandson of Ann Barber (Donald -RIP), and Carmen Hernandez. He is the brother of Terry Lee Garcia (Michelle/Glynn), and the nephew of Adam Barber (Patricia), Monica Bacle (Peter), Gregory Barber (Zandra), and Angie Llama. His first cousins include Blake Barber, Devin Barber, and Lucas Bacle -- who were as close as brothers -- and Lauren Bacle Thompson (Dean), Natalie Bacle Gouge (John), Jenny Bacle, Leah Bacle, Glynn Archer IV, Maxie Llama, Emmanuel Llama, Desiree Barber Mahaffy (Zack), and Scarlett Barber Lutrell (Curtis). He is also survived in Key West by numerous other cousins and extended family, as well as scores of friends that he thought of as family members. In Arkansas he is survived by the very large Bubbus family, including great-aunt Martha Brooks, and great-uncles David Bubbus (Diane), and Daniel Bubbus (Marge), and a long list of other family members.
Chase was a devoted and loving father, husband, and son. His love for Berenice and Tristan was absolute, and he spent his last moments on earth with them. Nothing in life was more important to him than his entire extended family, and he was never too busy to devote his time to any one of them. He faced life with a cheerfulness and enthusiasm that was infectious to all around him, and was the person who always made things happen. Everyone was his friend, and welcome in anything he was doing, including family gatherings.
He was a seventh-generation Conch, and worked for the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority, but his real love was for the ocean. He spent every free moment in the boat, and often worked on his days off pulling lobster traps, or commercial fishing. Chase seemed to know everyone in Key West, and while there will surely be a hole in each of their lives with his passing, he will be loved and remembered warmly by each person who knew him.
The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Mary Immaculate Star of the Sea School.
All arrangements entrusted to Dean Lopez Funeral Home.
