'Hurricane Shirley' Longendyke

"Hurricane Shirley" Longendyke passed away at age 71 on Saturday morning, June 30, 2012. She was from Kingston, N.Y., the daughter of John Longendyke and Aletha Delavan. She had eight brothers and three sisters, Elizabeth Longendyke (daughter), Kristina Longendyke (granddaughter), Arron (grandson), and two great-grandchildren. Shirley came on vacation to Key West 36 years ago and stayed. She worked at the Margaret Truman Launderette and various hotels. She was a mom, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She will be deeply missed. A memorial will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Schooner Wharf Bar, then from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harpoon Harry's.
