A Marathon jury took 45 minutes Thursday evening to find guilty a man who drove drunk and caused a fatal 2009 crash.

The jury found Pierson Alberto Villalobos, 31, guilty on all counts in the wreck that killed two people: two counts of DUI manslaughter and two counts of vehicular manslaughter. Both are second-degree felonies.

Villalobos is to be sentenced Nov. 29 before county Judge Ruth Becker, said Assistant State Attorney Tanner Demmery. He faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

"I hope this finally brings some closure to the families of the victims after three years," Demmery said.

The jury went out about 4:30 p.m. and returned with guilty verdicts at 5:15 p.m.

The wreck occurred about 9:25 p.m. Nov. 28 at Mile Marker 47 as Villalobos sped north, swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a southbound car.

The crash killed Marathon resident Christopher Jennings, 33, and his girlfriend, Deborah Mangrum, 42, who was moving here from Wyoming to be with him.

Mangrum, a mother of four who owned a hair salon in Lusk, Wyo., died at the scene. Jennings, who worked at Annette's Lobster & Steak House, died Dec. 3 at Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.

Villalobos had a prior DUI conviction from a May 2006 crash.

Three other Marathon residents were hurt in the crash and taken to Fishermen's Hospital: Villalobos' passenger, Yendel N. Garcia, 32; Mercedes Diaz, 57, who was driving the car Villalobos hit; and her passenger, Jordi Torna, 10.

All were treated and released from the hospital.
