Quit smoking program
A free, two-hour "Tools to Quit" smoking cessation program will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Womankind, 1511 Truman Ave., Key West.
Participants will receive, for free, two weeks' worth of nicotine replacement patches as well as counseling from a certified tobacco treatment specialist.
"If you're ready to quit, we're ready to help," organizers say.
Keys Area Health Education Centers and Womankind are both sponsoring the program.

Holiday ride to the past
A Lignumvitae Key Christmas "boat ride into the past" will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1. A $5 donation -- but free for students 12 and under -- includes a catamaran ride to the island and a look at the historic Matheson House, decorated for the holidays.
Christmas cookies and refreshments will be served. Boats will leave from Robbie's Marina, Mile Marker 77.5, bayside, on Lower Matecumbe Key. The event is sponsored by Friends of Islamorada Area State Parks and the Florida Park Service for the benefit of the park. For more information, call 305-664-2540.
'Tan Lines' author signs at MARC
Key West Citizen reporter and columnist Mandy Miles, who writes the "Tan Lines" column for the Sunday Citizen, will sign and sell copies of her new book, "More of Mandy Miles' Tan Lines: Only in Key West," from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the MARC Christmas Tree Sale, 1401 Seminary St.
Miles will donate 20 percent of her proceeds today to the organization.
The Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens each year sells Christmas trees, poinsettias, wreaths, ornaments and other holiday gifts to raise money for its programs that benefit developmentally disabled adults in Monroe County.
