Queen Emma lily (Crinum augustum) was named after Hawaiian Queen Emma Rooke (1836-1885), consort of King Kamehameha. The Queen was admired for her humanitarian work and her love of nature. While not native to Hawaii, the lilies in her name are naturalized on the islands and grow in front of her sun cottage.
