Information sought in floating body case

MARATHON: Detectives are seeking information about the death of a Homestead man whose body was found floating offshore Grassy Key Tuesday morning.

Authorities identified him as 49-year-old Fritznel Alexis, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Deputy Becky Herrin said. There were no signs of foul play, she added.

Passing boaters spotted the body in about 2 feet of water within sight of Grassy Key RV Park & Resort, at Mile Marker 58.7, Herrin said. A Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer pulled the body from the water at 10:45 a.m. Anyone with information about Alexis is asked to call 305-289-2351.
