Bonsai says goodbye

After 32 years in Key West and 22 years in business in Key West, Peter and Maggie Wassylenko, owners of Bonsai Gift Gallery and Bonsai Diving are closing their businesses.

The gift shop at 1075 Duval St. will close Feb. 28 and the dive operations will cease at the end of March, Peter Wassylenko said.

"It is time to say goodbye to our favorite island," he said. "Many thanks to city staff, our loyal customers and our many friends on the island. This is our first business closure ever, and we have a lot of items to dispose of in a very short time. Come see us, show your local Keys ID for special prices and lighten our load. Thanks again, it has truly been a wonderful 32 years."

UPPER KEYS

Business group host expo

The Upper Keys chapter of Business & Professional Women (BPW) will host a Business Expo with theme "Showcasing the Business in BPW" from 5-7 p.m. March 20 at the Key Largo Civic Club, Mile Marker 100.

Club members and members of the business community are invited to reveal new products and introduce services or merchandise to potential customers.

Applications for display space are available at www.upperkeysbpw.org and a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available. Booths are $60 for BPW members and $100 for non-members. Proceeds benefit the group's scholarship funds.

The public is invited to the event to check out businesses and have relaxed conversations about their services. The expo also is a networking opportunity to develop new professional connections. There is no charge for entry. There will be door prizes, light refreshments and a cash bar. For more information call 305-853-0907.
