Stock Island hosts 'Shop Hop'
Stock Island Marina Village will host a Stock Island Shop Hop on March 23, featuring artisans, craftsmen, woodworking, ceramics and more at Ye Olde Hippie Workshop and the The Shops at 5550 5th Ave.
An open house will take place at the workshop, 6991 Shrimp Road, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. March 23 and an evening reception will be offered from 5-9 p.m. at 5550 5th Ave. The event will feature businesses such as Renegade Clay Studio, Ashe Furniture and Repair, Certified Appliance Repair, Just Keys Trees, Artisan Thomas Avery and KMS Fiberglass Repair.

Local TV station grows
The Florida Keys local TV station, WEYW-TV, has grown since its debut in July 2011 and recently added a fiber circuit that is available to all major networks. Their Level 3 connection is a switchboard for fiber optics to route fiber signals between television stations all over the world. Fox News, MSNBC and CNN have all used the studio for live interviews, according to a company press release.
The station currently features 15 locally produced shows, such as Good Morning Florida Keys with Jenna Stauffer, Keys Homes Show, Buzz TV, Reelin' in the Keys, Key West Lou's Legal Hour and the Keys Home Show, showcasing local real estate.
The station is still looking for shows featuring the fishing industry, the release states.

Nonprofit honors people of valor
Samuel's House will honor 10 Key West men and women who have given generously to the community through their philanthropic and volunteer efforts during the annual Women of Integrity and Men of Valor Dinner to be held at 6:30 p.m. April 18 at the Westin Key West Resort.
This year's honorees include Men and women who have all given selflessly to improve our community and will be recognized in each of their areas of community involvement.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the programs of Samuel's House, which offers shelter and support services to women, women and men with children and intact families in their time of greatest need while helping them become self-sufficient.
Tickets are $60 per person and include a buffet dinner, silent auction, entertainment and a cash bar.
