Today and Saturday, Goombay, the street festival that honors Key West's Bahamian roots, returns to usher in the 10-day Fantasy Fest celebration.
From noon to midnight both days, Goombay rules the historic Bahama Village neighborhood centering on Petronia Street. The event offers food booths, live music and a "Junakanoo," which is Bahamian for street parade, both nights starting at 7 p.m. at Truman Avenue and Whitehead Street. Jahfe and The People Upstairs are booked to play each night.
Children from the Bahama Village Music Program's Joyful Voices choir will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday at the main stage at Petronia and Fort streets. The day includes Robert Albury and Total Recall, featuring guitarist and City Commissioner Clayton Lopez
