KEY LARGO: An injured Key Largo motorcyclist was airlifted Wednesday morning after hitting a truck on U.S. 1.
Patrick J. Schlafly's injuries were not life-threatening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Both drivers were headed south.
Schlafly, 57, reportedly lost control of his 2008 Honda bike south of Ocean Boulevard near Tavernier Towne Center. He hit the median and then the left side of a 2005 Mack truck driven by Luis R. Morga, 45, of Miami. Morga was not hurt.
The southbound lanes were closed for about 45 minutes before one lane was reopened. Normal traffic resumed after an hour. The crash is under investigation and charges are pending, reports say.
