First State honors promotions, milestones
First State Bank of the Florida Keys recently announced the promotions of Jenny O'Brien, assistant controller, and Becky Shifflett, Marathon and Islamorada branch manager, to assistant vice president.
O'Brien joined First State Bank in 2001 as a college intern/teller. Upon graduation she returned as a credit analyst, was promoted to commercial lender in 2004, and to commercial loan officer in 2006.
In 2010 she was transferred to the accounting team as accounting officer/assistant controller.
She is a Key West High School graduate with a degree in business administration from the University of Florida.
Shifflett began her career with First State Bank in 2005 as customer service officer and was promoted to Marathon branch operations manager in 2008. In 2010 she was promoted once more to branch manager of the Marathon and Islamorada offices. Shifflett is active in both the Marathon and Islamorada communities with a dedication to local civic programs.
Bank officials also recently recognized Tiffany Wiggins, bookkeeping representative, on her fifth employment anniversary with the bank.
Wiggins joined First State in 2009 as an item processor. She has eight years of experience in the banking industry.
Kemmer joins Mariners Hospital
Mariners Hospital officials recently announced that Angie Kemmer has joined the hospital as director of social services. An Illinois native, Kemmer has lived in the Keys for 14 years and was previously associated with the Florida Keys Children's Shelter and the Guidance Care Center.
Kemmer holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Illinois and has experience in social services work in a hospital setting.
