Charo Carrero Hacker, age 97, passed away on Jan. 24, 2019 at her youngest daughter’s residence in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

She has gone home to be with Jesus and her family who went before her. Charo was born in Key West, Florida on July 7, 1921.

She was the daughter of the late Oswaldo and Estela Carrero. She was raised in Key West, Florida, but later relocated and settled in Old Hickory, Tennssee.

Charo graduated in 1939 from St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Convent for girls in Key West. She later became a freelance court reporter and was also a Spanish-to-English interpreter.

Charo acted in local theaters such as the Waterfront Playhouse in Key West, and at Lakewood Theatre in Old Hickory.

Charo was a loving mother of three children, Bobbie Dot Garcia (Danny), Eugene P. Skaggs, Jr. (Lucy), and April Lynn Jennette (Bobby).

Charo was blessed with seven grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Celeste (Johnson) Blackwell, James Robert Jennette II (Heather),Troy Allen Johnson, Tony Garcia (Linda), Nick Garcia (Myra), Jason Skaggs and Anderson Skaggs.

Charo was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Austyn Gaige Blackwell, Preslee Paige Blackwell, Jackson Reid Jennette, Jacquelyn Johnson, Tyler Wood, Danielle Wood, Paisley Johnson, Nicholas Garcia, Alec Garcia, Danielle Garcia, Natalie Garcia, Jacob Garcia and Dylan Garcia.

Charo also had four great-great-grandchildren: Cieanna Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Layla Wood and Emma Wood.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m., at Unity Church, 5125 Franklin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37220.
