County’s dispute with wedding venue back in court
September 5, 2018
KEY LARGO — A special magistrate hearing regarding code violation complaints against 2 Thurmond Street Partners, which owns and operates Key Largo Lighthouse Beach Weddings, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6. at the Monroe County Government Regional Center, 2798 Overseas Highway, second floor, in Marathon.
The code compliance case centers around a county finding that the wedding venue lacks a vacation rental use permit and a vacation rental manager’s license, is operating illegally in a suburban residential zone and has failed to comply with the county noise ordinance.
The case has languished since April after attorneys for the county and business were given time to agree upon stipulations that would address the code violations, but ultimately reached a stalemate last month.
