the key west citizenSeptember 8, 2018

On Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, Diane Louise Auxier Anderson, loving mother, friend, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 87.

Diane was a fourth-generation Key West Conch, born May 31, 1931, and raised on an island where hurricanes stopped the boredom of perfect days. She was an artist, training at Florida State University in Tallahassee, as well as The New School in New York. She married Robert L. Anderson in 1955, and began a whirlwind life as the wife of a space-race engineer, moving up and down the Florida Space Coast before finally settling in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She and Bob moved to Ocala, Florida upon his retirement in 1988.

Diane was an active member of St. Stephen’s Parish, Pittsfield; Grace Church, Ocala; and Christ The King Anglican of Ocala. She served on the altar guild, reception committee, and was a spiritual leader in their chapter of Daughters of The King. She loved God, and her faith was strong throughout her life; she lived with grace and by example. Her church gave her some of her best friends, people who brought joy and laughter to both Diane and her family.

She left this life peacefully during a rolling Florida thunderstorm, surrounded by loving friends and family. Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents Louise and Samuel, and her brother Charles. She is survived by her four daughters, Victoria, Adriane, Diana, and Christina and their families, including 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Please join the family for a celebration of her life, Saturday, Sept. 15, at Christ The King Anglican at 11 a.m.; 4440 SE 3rd Ave, Ocala, Florida 34480. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ The King Anglican Church’s building fund in memory of Diane Anderson. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, Florida 352-629-7171.
