Donald James Cormack, 78, born Aug. 8, 1940, passed away surrounded by immediate family on Saturday, June 1, 2019.

Don was happiest when he was with his wife surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was loved by everyone who knew him. He was very proud to be a Conch. He loved his little island almost as much as he loved his family and friends. Don was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a hard worker from a young age, working at Sweeting’s Garage. He met his wife of 51 years while working as a tour guide for the Conch Train. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army and then in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to his beloved home, he taught auto mechanics and drove school bus for Marathon High School. Don worked at Boca Chica in Public Works Transportation, where he retired after more than 30 years of service. He worked for 30-plus years with Superboat International, as well as worked in various capacities for the City of Key West and Monroe County. Don was a great storyteller and loved to talk to everyone, especially his customers when he was working as a cashier at Publix.
