DOROTHY KATHRYN HARTLEY

Dorothy Kathryn Hartley, 99, of Big Coppitt Key, Florida passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, at her home. She was born in Carroll, Iowa on Dec. 9, 1919. She is the daughter of the late Leo and Agnes Wiedemeyer.

She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, and later was sent to Maui, Hawaii. She served as a gunnery instructor from 1944 to 1945. She was married in Carroll, Iowa, to Charles Hartley in 1946.

She is survived by three daughters, Lynda (Les) Bland; Diana (Eddie) Perry; Carol (Kenneth) Foley; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Wayne and Duane Hartley, and siblings Sr. Angela Marie (FSPA), Rose Reiser, John, Paul, Helen and Anthony.

She was a member of Court St. Lima Catholic Daughters since 1941 in Carroll, Iowa and a member of The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. at The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea.

Burial, with military honors, at the Southern Keys Cemetery on Big Coppitt Key. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
