Edward George Clark sailed to the Universe of Everlasting Light on Aug. 12, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on Oct. 24, 1949 in Lowell, Massachusetts to Edwin Clark (U.S. Army veteran) and Bruna Stochich of Trieste, Italy (both deceased).

Ed was a “Jack of all trades:” wrestler, football player, Athlete of the Year (Monroe-Woodbury High School Class of 1968), lifeguard, U.S. Army E5 veteran, carpenter, farmer, logger, 500-ton ship master, free diver and spearfisherman, as well as an entrepreneur: Sandpiper Sailing Company with Alden Schooner, Mariah, winner of 1980 NYC Mayor’s Cup; successful Real Estate broker/owner of RE/MAX Paradise for 10 years, then opening Paradise Real Estate in Key West for the last 28 years.

Ed came to the Keys on his Yamaha motorcycle in the early 1980s. He met Anita Garrigan on a blind date in July 1988 and married her on Aug. 28, 1988.

Husband, father, brother, son, cousin and friend, Ed leaves his wife of 30 years, Anita Clark, his sons: Nicholas Whalen (Tanoi, grandson, Spencer), George Clark (Kelly Polink), his sisters: Lillian Costa (Cliff), Rose Marie Gramling (Dave, nephew Richard Hunt) and numerous in-laws and cousins.

Ed never regretted his years in the U.S. Army. However, when the VA declared Ed 100 percent disabled with ALS, he felt that the rug had been pulled out from under him just as he was about to retire. Memorial donations may be made to VFW Post 3811, 2200 N. Roosevelt Blvd. Key West, FL 33040.

Family will gather to celebrate his life at a later date.
