Manuel Dorribo passed away at his home in Kendall on Wednesday night, Feb. 6, 2019 after several months of illness.
“Papy” was 85 years young and spent many years in Key West as a painting contractor after arriving from Cuba in the mid-1950s. He is considered one of the founding members of the Felix Varela Masonic Lodge 64 in Key West, where he served several years as the Grand Worshipful Master, among other duties.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Violet, children Elizabeth MacLaughlin (Mark), Antonia Brooks (Andy), Tania Jarrell (Dan), Connie Arrese, Debbie Rivieria, and his many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite pastime was baseball and the New York Yankees will miss one of their most avid fans.
A ceremony is scheduled in Miami on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the National Funeral Home, 151 NW 37th Ave., Miami, FL 33125. “Papy” will arrive back in Key West on Monday morning to be laid to rest in the Masonic Plot of the Key West City Cemetery with many brothers who have moved on. The burial service will take place at 12:30 p.m. Friends are invited to join the family at both celebrations.
