Robert “Roofman” Carr, 72, died on Dec. 31, 2018 in Cape Coral, Florida. Roofman is survived by his wife, Nena, of 40 years, his daughters Jessica Carr and Lily Carr Philips, his sons-in-law Steven Hill and Sean Philips, his grandchildren Chloe and Iris Hill and Carson Philips.

He was born in Salem, Massachusetts, graduated from Marblehead High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

Roofman was a devoted husband, loving father and great friend.

He lived in Key West from the mid-1970s through 2008.

During that time he made many friends in his work in the restaurant industry beginning with the Hukilau in the 1970s and 1980s to the Bagatelle and finally at Alonzo’s and A&B Lobster House.

Roof’s memory will live on through his granddaughters’ poker skills, his daughters’ senses of humor and wife Nena’s, retelling of Roofman stories, too many to count.

A gathering to remember and celebrate Roof will be held in Key West this spring.
