Robert Walter Goodreau, Jr.

Robert Walter Goodreau, Jr., 64, of Key West, Florida passed away Sept. 7, 2019. Bob was born to the late Lt. Robert Goodreau, USN Ret. and Virginia Green Goodreau on Feb. 15, 1955 at Quonset Point Naval Air Base in Kingstown, Rhode Island. He moved to Key West, Florida in 1970.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Bob joined various trades until he found his home with Key West Fire Department in 1978. Bob worked with KWFD for 25 years, of which 15 of those years he served as Captain. Being a part of the KWFD brotherhood meant the world to him and he considered every colleague a close friend.

Bob’s joie de vivre and enthusiasm for making sure everyone around him had a laugh made it so he never met a stranger. To those who knew Bob, they knew that he was generous to a fault and was always there to buy you a drink or offer a couch for the night if you needed it.

Bob’s life continues on through his daughter Celina Perez and husband Jose Perez; daughter Ashley Atwell and partner Leandre Washington; grandchildren, Leila, Olivia, Adrien, Damani, and London; former wife Dania “Cookie” Goodreau; sister Ellen (Lewis) Richardson; nieces Cassie (Robert) Young, Chrissy (Keith) Watts, and Kimmie (Tim) Wright; nephew Keith Hensel; Aunts Marge Terifaj and Evelyn Goodreau; cousins Nelson (Donna) Goodreau and Chris (Marie)Goodreau; and the many friends made over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Susan Goodreau

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Memorial Account for Joshua A. Yarbrough at any First State Bank of the Florida Keys branches or mail to 1201 Simonton St., Key West, FL 33040.
